The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G is a phone with a professional 108MP camera. It is also a 5G phone, but you could have already guessed that from its name. What else is "Pro" about it and whether it deserves the label "Plus" is something we will find out here.
Xiaomi now has a knack for finding impossible names for its products. This Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G does seem to take the crown a bit. We even wonder aloud if current owners can pronounce the correct name without first looking it up. But enough joking. This Note 11 Pro Plus brings with it quite a few features. How about lightning-fast 120W charging, a 108MP camera, dual speakers, and a smooth 120Hz AMOLED screen. Specifications we expect from a high-end flagship with a correspondingly high price tag. But this Note 11 Pro+ doesn't do the latter.
Time to zoom in a bit on the camera. Xiaomi is applying a 108MP sensor from Samsung. This one, unfortunately, does not come without its flaws. While this shoots very sharp images, it sometimes has some focus issues. With sufficient day-light and still photos, you will not quickly have this problem, but in the dark or with action photos, you will. The camera is not bad, but its high resolution creates expectations it cannot fulfil. However, it is not the only camera on the back of the Redmi Note 11 Pro+. There is also an 8MP camera with a 120° ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro camera for extreme close-ups. The latter we see more often, especially as a filler. The low resolution does not make it particularly useful for every-day photography. You can shoot videos up to 4K. At the front, you will find a 16MP selfie shooter.
Up front, we find a 6.67-inch display. That size may be a bit too big for some though having a big screen is worth something too. Neat about the panel is that it is AMOLED. Because each pixel can be turned on and off individually, very high contrast is created. Black is really black. And white is genuinely white, thanks to the high peak brightness of 1200 nits. Animations look smooth thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate. Anyone scrolling thru a list, for example, will experience this and will not want to go back without it after having had it once. All in all, a fine screen, especially considering the price.
