Samsung Galaxy M22 product description
The Samsung Galaxy M22 is a smartphone that has been brought back to the basics. But still a base with a large display up front, multiple cameras in the back and a large battery in between. Everything you think you need nowadays. Whether that is actually the case we are going to find out here.
Entry-level phone with above-average display
The Galaxy M series is primarily intended for young people and that is why Samsung has priced this M22 affordably. You get quite a lot for relatively little money. Starting with a large 6.4-inch screen with a U-shaped notch at the top for the selfie camera. The screen edges have been kept to a minimum so this phone fits effortlessly in a pocket or bag. The screen has a reasonably sharp HD+ resolution and movements look realistic due to the high 90Hz screen display. Neat about the screen is the high colour reproduction and contrast values. This is because Samsung has used a Super AMOLED panel. Colours look intense and black is really black. The fact that Samsung now also applies its Super AMOLED panels to entry-level models is a good development for the consumer.

Surprisingly useful camera
Turning the Galaxy M22 around, we see a square camera island with no less than 4 cameras. Here, of course, another macro camera that we see more often in this segment and unfortunately adds little. But we also see an ultra-wide-angle camera. And that is exactly what you often need. You shoot spatial photos with it, for example of landscapes. It is even a relatively high 8MP sensor with neat f/2.2 lens with wide 123 degree viewing angle. Furthermore, a 2MP depth camera but the star of the foursome is really the 48MP main camera with f/2.0 lens. The results do not disappoint, in fact, they manage to surprise us positively. Premium features such as optical image stabilisation and 4K video are missing but in the base the M22 camera performs very well.

Large battery with extra fast charging
We may have saved the best thing about the M22 for last; the battery. It has a generous capacity of 5000 mAh; enough for several days of use. Now such a large battery is not exceptional, even in this price category. But the fact that you can charge it quickly with 25W is. Samsung rightly calls this Super Fast Charging and it is even as fast as the current flagship Galaxy S21, which is really much more expensive. It is strange that Samsung has equipped the M22 with a smaller battery than its predecessor, the M21. Apparently 6000 mAh was a bit too much.
