The Oppo Find X3 Neo is part of the Find X3 series that Oppo announced in March of 2021. The series consists of the X3 Pro and the Lite. This Neo sits right in between. It should be an inexpensive flagship with some appealing features. Here you can read whether Oppo succeeded in doing so.

Familiar phone

From the looks of it, you wouldn't think it was related to the Find X3 Pro. Especially the back and especially the camera looks quite different. It does look a bit like a OnePlus 9. That's not surprising; Oppo and OnePlus are from the same company. However, this X3 Neo does differ from its OnePlus counterpart. There is an extra camera on the back and the selfie camera is sharper. On the other hand, the screen refresh rate cannot exceed 90Hz and the processor is a 2020 model; the Snapdragon 865. Now, the X3 Neo is not a thousand-euro phone, but it's not very cheap either.

All the cameras you'd expect

A little more about the camera. On the back of the X3 Neo we find from top to bottom; a 13MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, 50MP main camera and a 16MP ultra wide angle with a wide 123° viewing angle. Right of the trio is a 2MP macro lens. The latter is not as spectacular as the Microlens as on the X3 Pro. Equal to the Pro though is the 50MP main camera. This is the IMX766 that Oppo has developed together with Sony. This is very light sensitive which makes for a good nite mode and also has good colour reproduction. On the front is a 32MP selfie camera in a small punch-hole in the top left corner. This also allows you to take panoramic photos and even a time-lapse.

Under the hood, we find a Snapdragon 865 processor; the top specimen from 2020. There are faster phones to be found but the Find X3 Neo comes along well. Especially since there is 12GB of RAM memory present which is just a lot. The storage memory is not small either; 256GB in size. Fast charging is guaranteed by the SuperVOOC 2.0 technology. This allows you to charge the battery with 65W extra fast. Wireless charging is unfortunately not included. Also missing is a waterproof IP rating. These are all things that you can expect from a phone of this price nowadays. So be sure to consider the competition's offerings before you decide to buy.
