The Nokia 3.1, sometimes called Nokia 3 (2018), is a fairly affordable Android One smartphone with a remarkably luxurious exterior. The screen with its thin bezels and 18:9 ratio give it a modern look. And the front and back cameras are sharp and extensive enough. You could say it is the ideal phone.
But to come to that conclusion, we want to take a closer look at it. And that doesn't result in an unpleasant sight. The curved screen glass, the polished aluminium side, and the convex back not only look luxurious, but also make the Nokia 3.1 comfortable to hold. The glass in front is made of sturdy Gorilla Glass, which offers protection against falling damage and scratches. Behind it, we find an HD+ screen with a modern 18:9 ratio. The screen edges are therefore smaller, making the screen look bigger. The screen is 5.2 inches which is relatively compact these days, but big enough to watch movies on for a long time.
On the back of this Nokia 3.1, we find a 13 megapixel camera, which is quite remarkable in this price category. Expect high resolution photos. Make sure to bring a steady hand, because there is no image stabilisation to compensate for movements. Filming is in maximum HD, which is just too little to watch on a big TV, but high enough to post on social media. For romantic snapshots in the dark, you have access to an LED flash. There is an 8 megapixel camera on the front, which is also remarkably high. Special is the 84.6 degrees wide-angle lens that sits in front of it. This ensures that besides yourself, your friends can also fit into the picture. Group selfies are therefore a possibility.
In order to get sufficient speed, an octacore processor from MediaTek was chosen. Despite its eight cores, this Chinese-made chip is not particularly powerful. For simple tasks and average use, however, it is sufficient. The variant that is sold here has 2 GB of RAM memory, which is actually the minimum to switch smoothly between apps. The storage memory is 16 GB, but the operating system also takes a part of it. You can easily expand this with up to 128 GB via a separate memory card. Just like other newer Nokia's, this Nokia 3.1 (2018) runs Android One. This version of Android is more barren than you are used to, but it does offer some advantages. For example, you'll receive monthly security updates and two more years of Android updates. This keeps it safe and clean for a long time.
