Nokia 1 Plus product description

The Nokia 1 Plus is the big brother of the Nokia 1. It is equipped with a larger and therefore more useable screen. That does not mean that it is immediately better. Let us explain what we mean by that here.

Bigger screen, new finish

The new 1 Plus shares the previous Nokia 1 except for the screen. At 5.45 inches, it is one stroke larger. More fits on the screen, it reads easier and the 18:9 ratio looks modern. Nokia immediately took the opportunity to redesign the back. Gone are the curves and new is a 3D nanopattern. That looks nice and also offers extra grip. However, the housing is still made of plastic. By not spraying the colour onto the plastic but mixing it with it, scratches are not immediately visible.

More megapixels

The Nokia 1 Plus always has a 5 megapixel camera, even though it is now at the front. On the back, a higher 8 megapixel shooter has been chosen. This higher resolution ensures sharper shots, something that especially the selfie camera benefits from. 5 megapixels is a bit the minimum nowadays. What also helps is the Beautify mode which automatically makes your selfies a little nicer. The operation is familiar because Nokia has used Android. The Nokia 1 Plus comes standard with Android 9.0 Pie (Go Edition). This is a special version optimised for relatively simple hardware. You will receive monthly security updates and guaranteed updates.

Not just improvements

Still, we're not charmed by all the changes. For example, a memory card slot is missing this time. And with a fixed storage memory of 8 GB, we don't have a lot of possibilities when this is full. Now Android Go Edition does help because it takes up less space, yet you don't have much space for photos and music. Unless, of course, you save it online. Luckily, the Nokia 1 Plus does support 4G so you can quickly download and upload it. Altho you can always switch to the built-in FM radio for music. Plug in your headphones and you can listen to music for free and for free.
