HTC Desire 20 Pro product description
The HTC Desire 20 Pro is an affordable Android phone with a total of 5 cameras. The one at the front is neatly concealed in a punch-hole, leaving 4 at the back. We're going to find out what you can use it for and whether it's worth considering.
Selfie camera with Beauty mode
It's been a bit quiet around HTC. Nowadays they don't make expensive flagships anymore but these kind of affordable phones. And in order to compete with players like Samsung and Xiaomi, they have to do a lot of work. This is good for the consumer because it provides affordable phones with a lot of value for money. This Desire 20 Pro puts a lot of money in the pocket. You get a large 6.5 inch screen with thin edges and sharp Full HD+ resolution. In the screen is a 25 MP camera with f/2.0 lens with fixed focal length. The selfie camera has a Beauty mode to enhance your self-portraits.

Sufficient impressive camera setup
On the back of the Desire 20 Pro we find four cameras of 48, 8, 2 and 2 megapixels. The first are used for every-day shots that require a lot of sharpness and detail, even in low light. The 8MP sensor can be used to capture complete landscapes thanks to the ultra-wide-angle lens. Then there's a 2MP macro camera for extreme close-ups of up to 25 millimetres such as insects or flowers. The fourth sensor is to recognise depth and blur backgrounds extra. This results in more beautiful portraits thanks to the bokeh effect (sharpness/depth). You can see this effect even before you take your picture on the screen thanks to the Realtime Portrait Mode. Videos can be shot in up to 4K and you can take photos while filming (Video Pic).

Big battery on paper
HTC has to reduce the cost to equip the Desire 20 Pro with a Snapdragon 665 processor. That is not the most powerful chipset from Qualcomm. So don't expect flashy performance, but for every-day use it will be sufficient in most cases. There is 6 GB of RAM memory which is very neat in this price category. The storage memory is 128 GB which is above average. So you don't need to add memory quickly. Something which by the way is just possible with this 20 Pro. To be able to use your phone for a long time, HTC has equipped the Desire 20 Pro with a large battery with 5000 mAh capacity. On paper that should be sufficient for at least 2 days of use. Yet in practise it seems difficult to achieve that. Luckily there is support for fast charging (Quick Charge 3.0) so you're back on your feet as soon as the battery is really empty. The only pity is the plastic backside. It has a nice colour gradient so it doesn't look very cheap.
