The Alcatel 1B 2022 is a lightweight budget model from the French company Alcatel. It is one of the cheapest smartphones money can buy and with which you can still get around quite well. But that does not mean that it is without shortcomings. Which ones exactly we will explain here.

Android Go Edition comes with advantages and disadvantages

The Alcatel 1B (2022) uses Android Go Edition. That's a stripped-down version of Android meant for simple phones. Apps are smaller and less intensive for the processor, and some functions are missing. The advantage of this is that manufacturers of simple phones do not have to use expensive components such as processor and memory. This results in an inexpensive purchase price. And this seems to have been achieved for this 1B 2022. Disadvantage is as mentioned that there are missing functions here and there and that you miss the processing power to be able to play graphics-intensive games.

Can it be a bit more?

On the front of the 1B, Alcatel uses a 5.5-inch display with an HD+ resolution. Above and below the screen you will find traditional old-fashioned bars. The top is used for the speaker and the 5MP selfie camera, the bottom is not used. Thus, there are no control buttons incorporated. On the back we find an 8MP main camera and that is also the only camera. This camera features HDR, a panorama mode for wide landscapes and Face Beauty setting. The minimum with a little extra.

When price really matters

Inside is where we find the most cuts. Alcatel uses a cramped 3000mAh battery, an entry-level MediaTek Helio A22 with just 2GB of RAM memory and 32GB of storage. It's what we call the bare minimum. Thanks to Android Go, the 1B 2022 still manages to make something of it but it is not exciting. The device is therefore ideal to start with, to get acquainted with smartphones, or as your first phone. Or of course when price is the most important deciding factor.
