Apple has to adjust it iPhone design of the EU
A new European law that got accepted last month says that you should be able to remove the battery of electronic devices easily. That's too bad for Apple: the iPhone has a battery that can not be removed.
Apple now has to adjust the design of the iPhone to act conform the law. The reason for this new law is the prevention of the release of dangerous substances in the environment. The users of the iPhone can not change the battery themselves. Only a certified repairer has the right to do this, what leads to extra costs, which has the consequence that broken iPhones will end up at the trash. And this is exactly what the EU is trying to prevent.
Critics
Apple already did hear a lot of critics after releasing the iPhone, because the battery is not replacable. This is usually the first peace of a phone that breaks down or gives an user trouble. By not being able to replace the battery the lifetime of the iPhone gets limited a lot. On the Internet some manuals can be found that show how you can replace the battery of the iPhone. And companies, like the Chinese Brando, offer special sets that enable you to replace it by yourself. Apple is also offering a replacement program, that costs 79 dollar and 6,95 dollar shipping costs.
