According to Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google Inc, the Android projects already breaks even. Ad revenue is high enough to pay all development costs made by Google, Schmidt says.

The announcement of Schmidt is good news for manufacturers creating Android devices, and are a sign of the succes of the operating system. A year and a half ago, in February 2009, the first version of Android came out. It's a great achievement to make a open source project break even that quickly.

200,000 handsets a day

At the moment, 200,000 Android handsets are delivered every day. Owners of the phones can install one or more of the 100,000 applications in the Android Market.
