RIM announces first touchscreen BlackBerry
BlackBerry has offically announced the BlackBerry Storm 9500 today. The Storm is the first BlackBerry device with a touchscreen and will exclusively be braught to Europe by Vodafone.
Touchscreen phones are familiar to us thanks to the iPhone, but the BlackBerry Storm is unique because of the buttons that are shown on the display. These 'buttons' feel just like real buttons. BlackBerry has a real scoop with this!

The eyecatcher of the Storm is the touchscreen of 480 x 360 pixels. The Storm is in fact a multimedia device with push e-mail and support for quick Internet and navigation features. It is also the first BlackBerry device with a 3.2 megapixel camera. The camera fortunately has autofocus, to avoid unclear pictures.
Touchscreen with buttons
The Storm is really unique thanks to the buttons on the display that can be pressed. And this is something we've never seen before. Previously producers would use haptic feedback to communicate between the touchscreen and the user. BlackBerry adds a new dimension we'd love to see on other devices in the future!
No WiFi
A big disappointment is the fact that the device doesn't have WiFi support. So you have to work with the UMTS or HSDPA network. But nevertheless, with the flat-fee-data subscriptions nowadays this should give no problems.
Frank Rovekamp "wiszh" the BlackBerry Storm
The BlackBerry Storm 9500 will be sold in Europe only by Vodafone. We do not know when, but we suspect the device to be in stores by the end of the year.
