According to the blog All Things D, Apple holds a presentation on October 4th, where the new iPhone will be presented. It is likely that this is the the first iPhone to be revealed by Tim Cook, the new Apple CEO.
Apple may come with two new devices, a budget model based on the iPhone 4, and a completely new device, the iPhone 5. According to rumors, this phone gets a bigger display than the current iPhone. The iPhone 4 has a display with a screen diagonal of 3.5 inches. Competitors have already announced devices with screens larger than 4.5 inches.
Reportedly Apple is going along with that trend. The iPhone 5 will very likely have the same processor as the iPad 2, The Apple-designed the A5 processor, which incidentally is manufactured by competitor Samsung. Furthermore, the new phone is expected to be slimmer than the current iPhone.
