Adidas battles Nike to win running smartphone users
Adidas launches its own application for smartphones in an attempt to take same marketshare from Nike, that has a partnership with Apple. The the app will work on the iPhone and several BlackBerry's. The software gives advice based on running speed.
To use the training software created by Adidas, you only need your phone. No need for an extra module in your shoe. Using your iPhone with Nike's app requires a sensor in your shoe, at the cost of about 30 dollars. Adidas uses GPS to track your velocity and distance.

Spanish international David Villa is so kind to show how the system works in exchange for a new pair of soccer shoes.
Training Online
Both Nike and Adidas offer downloadable training schedules on a special website. Android user still have to wait for a training application backed by a sportsbrand. Luckily, the Andrid Market offers some alternative like SportyPal.
