The realme GT 2 Pro is a tasteful flagship with a premium 2K screen, two 50MP cameras, and a 20% faster CPU. So a high-end phone with a price tag to match, we're not used to that from realme. But does this GT 2 Pro live up to the promise? Let's find out here.
We know Realme mainly as a manufacturer of cheaper phones but this GT 2 Pro is really a high-end flagship. And one with a price tag to match. To distinguish itself, realme applies some striking materials. For example, the back is made of a biopolymer. In the case of the GT 2 Pro from paper pulp. According to realme, this is the first phone to have that and it also feels nice. Just like paper but without staining. If you don't quite trust it, you can also go for the Steel Black version with a more traditional choice of materials.
At the front of the GT2 Pro is a 6.7-inch display. In itself nothing special were it that this panel features a high 2K resolution, is extra bright (1400 nits), hugely colorful thanks to its 10-bit support, and very smooth thanks to its 1 to 120Hz display. All of realme's efforts are not in vain; the screen receives an A+ rating from DisplayMate researchers. Protection comes in the form of Gorilla Glass Victus that can survive drops of up to 2 meters on hard ground.
On the back find a dual 50MP camera with a separate micro-lens. The main camera consists of a Sony IMX766 sensor with an f/1.8 lens. The ultra-wide angle features an extra-wide 150° viewing angle for extra dramatic shots. And with the 40x magnifying microlens, you can make the invisible world under our noses visible. Things like snowflakes or the hairs of an insect. Thanks to software, realme enables things like 3D Photo where backgrounds zoom out or move without moving the object. Or Bokeh Flare to add background blur to videos. Your subject then stands out even more.
The realme GT 2 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor from Qualcomm. It is available with 8 or 12GB of RAM memory (LPDDR5) and 128 and 256GB of storage memory (UFS 3.1), respectively. At the time of writing, it is the most powerful processor and so high performance is guaranteed. The battery is more than enough for a day's use at 5000 mAh, and should it fail, it will be fixed in no time thanks to the 65W SuperDart Charge support. A full battery in just over half an hour is the result. Wireless charging is unfortunately not supported.
