Start exploringThe Xiaomi Redmi 12C, sometimes called Redmi 12C for short, is an affordable phone with a compelling large display. But the 12C has more up its sleeve that makes it appeal to a broader audience. Which ones, exactly, can you read about here.
You have to hand it to the guys and gals at Xiaomi; they know how to cram an inexpensive smartphone full of features. We list a 50MP dual camera, a big 5000mAh battery, a large 6.71-inch screen, and a memory card slot accepting up to 1TB. It's neat when you consider the asking price. Usually, a manufacturer saves on the processor, but even there, Xiaomi manages to surprise us. Instead of the simplest, they opted for a pretty capable Helio G85 from MediaTek. Admittedly, it is not the most powerful, but certainly not the slowest. And so the Redmi 12C feels relatively fast in this price category.
Probably the Redmi 12C's most significant selling point is its large screen, which measures a whopping 6.71 inches from corner to corner. That's big and makes it not go unnoticed in a pocket. The advantage, of course, is that you can view photos and videos well. One downside, however, is the HD resolution. On such a large screen size, text looks a bit pixelated; for photos, it makes little difference. On the back, we find a dual camera, of which the primary camera has no less than 50 megapixels. It is big enough for sharp and clear photos, even at dawn. The second camera is only there to help the primary camera. You can't shoot wide-angle images, but that's not to be expected in this price range.
If we unscrew the Redmi 12C, we will find a large 5000mAh battery—more than enough for a carefree day of use. The 12C does not do fast charging; the included charger is "only" 10W. A full charge takes several hours. The fingerprint scanner is located on the back, next to the camera. So, it is not found on the screen like some other smartphones.
Furthermore, the device has a built-in FM radio, and you can connect your wired headphones thanks to the 3.5mm headphone port. You can also put in a memory card, which is especially handy on the model with 32GB of built-in storage. After all, that is full in no time.
