Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 product details
The Galaxy Z Fold4 is Samsung's largest and most comprehensive foldable. In other words, a phone the size of a normal phone that you can fold open like a book after which a tablet-sized screen is created. Ideal but that also comes with a hefty price tag. Whether it is worth it we try to find out here.
Number of minor improvements
The Z Fold 4 is a phone made for doing multiple things at once. The large screen lends itself extremely well to that. Starting with the outer screen. That one already measures no small 6.2 inches. Samsung has adjusted the proportions of the device slightly this year. The Fold is slightly wider and slightly shorter. That makes the screen slightly more usable and pleasant to use. Other differences from its predecessor include a thinner hinge, considerably brighter camera sensors and a selfie camera that is now even more invisible than before.

King of multitasking
Inside the Fold4, of course, is the big star of the show. At 7.6 inches, that's a tablet-sized screen that fits in your pocket. The panel is state of the art with specs like an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz, S-Pen support and a new generation Under Display Camera. That is, a screen that alternates between low-power and smooth, can be operated with a stylus and used for drawing and whose selfie camera is incorporated invisibly under the screen. Thanks to new software, the screen is even more capable of doing multiple things at once. For example, apps such as Facebook and Netflix have been made especially suitable for the large Infinity Flex screen. But you can also display multiple apps simultaneously, there are pop-up windows and there is a real Taskbar where all your favorite apps are located.

Light-sensitive cameras
Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Z Fold 4 with plenty of new cameras. Most important is the 50MP main camera. That has a 23% more light-sensitive sensor for better photos in the dark. The zoom camera this time does 30x digital zooming that lets you shoot even stars and the moon bright and clear. And then there's a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a dual selfie camera. The one in front counts 10MP and the one inside, and processed under the screen, counts 4MP. That's a bit low for making nice video calls but on the other hand, because of a new pixel arrangement, it is now virtually invisible.
Fine storage, hefty price
Inside the Galaxy Z Fold4, Samsung applies a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor from Qualcomm. This has access to 12 GB of RAM memory. Here goes; the more the better. There are versions with 256, 512 and 1024 GB of storage memory. The latter also goes by the name 1 TB and is only available directly from Samsung. The battery measures 4400mAh this year which is not even that big considering the hefty screen size. Fortunately, fast charging is present though limited to 25W maximum. This is a point of improvement for next year; the competition is now much further along in this. Prices are hefty, but those who want to stand out should be willing to pay for it.
