The Samsung Galaxy S10e is the new entry-level model from the 10th Galaxy S-series. The model is sometimes jokingly called the S10 Lite, but the fact that we are not dealing with a lightweight phone here becomes clear when we take a look at the spec sheet.

Differences with S10 and S10+

The S10e is a completely new model and has no direct predecessor in that respect. It is an excellent alternative to the more expensive S10 and much more expensive S10+. Many of the properties are the same. Otherwise, this Galaxy S10e in the screen is flat and not rounded at the edges. Also different on the screen is that the fingerprint scanner is not under the screen but on the side. This can be a more pleasant place for those who want to do a lot of groping.

Same screen size, yet more compact

At the front of the Galaxy S10e we find a 5.8 inch screen. That size corresponds to the S9 of a year ago, but still the S10e is a lot more compact. That has everything to do with the location of the selfie camera. By placing it in a hole the screen can go all the way to the top. Also at the bottom there is not really a bar anymore, so more attention is paid to the content you play with it. The new Dynamic AMOLED screen provides colorful images and is compatible with HDR10+ for the first time. If you weren't a fan of the rounded sides, you'll be glad the screen on the S10e is completely flat.

Good set of cameras

On the camera side, the Samsung Galaxy S10e resembles the successor of the S9+ rather than the S9. That is because we have 2 different cameras on the back. A 12 megapixel camera with Dual Aperture and a 16 megapixel wide-angle lens. With the first one you shoot well exposed photos during the day as well as in the evening thanks to the variable aperture. The wide-angle lens is better at capturing landscapes and wide horizons. Combined, you can zoom 0.5x optically. That is less than for example the S10 and S10+ which go up to 2x. Furthermore, it is good to hear that the Galaxy S10e has the same processor and is therefore equally fast. Finally, the 3100 mAh battery can be charged wirelessly, something that goes extra fast with Fast Wireless Charging 2.0. It is even possible to charge other devices wirelessly by placing them on the back of the S10e.
