With the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite, Samsung breathes new life into the Galaxy S10 series released in 2019. It gets a makeover with modern looks and contemporary specifications. All this does not really match the name Lite. That can cause a lot of confusion and therefore we will explain what the S10 Lite really is.

Modern design, confusing format

Especially the new display provides the contemporary look. The selfie camera now sits exactly in the middle of the screen and is therefore less conspicuous during daily use. The screen size comes out at 6.7 inches, which is considerably larger than on the regular S10. It is even bigger than the screen on the S10+. So that is not what makes this 'Lite' light. However, the screen resolution is lower; Full HD+. But because Samsung still uses the Super AMOLED type, colors are nice and bright even outdoors. The display also offers high contrast values, so black is really black.

Triple camera, no optical zoom

A phone is only as good as its camera. On the back of the S10 Lite we find no less than 3 cameras. The 48 megapixel main camera is equipped with f/2.0 wide-angle lens and optical image stabilization. The latter is not only useful for taking sharp photos every time. It also helps to take better exposed photos in the dark. And you also get smoother videos with it. The second camera is a 5 megapixel macro for extreme close-ups. Think of plants and insects. The third camera is a 12 megapixel ultra-wide-angle to realistic capture landscapes. This means a telephoto lens is missing. You can zoom in digitally, but at the cost of image quality. There is also just a portrait mode to blur the background extra.

Large battery = long battery life

At the front of the Galaxy S10 Lite we find a 32 megapixel selfie camera with Live Focus. Also with this camera you can add background blur (bokeh) to make your self portraits stand out a bit more. However, our attention is more focused on the built-in battery. With 4500 mAh it's on the large side for a phone like this. Samsung even says it is sufficient for 2 days of use. Fast charging is possible, wireless charging is not. For a Lite phone, the S10 Lite has a remarkable amount of (working) memory. The RAM comes out at a generous 8 GB and the storage memory full at 128 GB. It can even be expanded to 1 TB. And with an octacore processor, it's even powerful. So what do you mean Lite?
