Samsung Galaxy S10 product details

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is already the 10th flagship of the South Korean company and leader of the S10 family consisting of the S10+ and S10e. The current generation is a further development with a new type of screen, new cameras and some new tricks. If that's enough is something we are going to find out here.

New screen, more colors and fingerprint recognition

At first glance, the Galaxy S10 doesn't look like its predecessor. Of course, that has everything to do with the screen. It has even thinner edges and in order to have room for a selfie camera, a round hole has been made in it. This hole is at the top right and the software takes this into account. Because of this it doesn't stand out very much. Samsung applies a Dynamic AMOLED screen that has support for the first HDR10+. This allows the S10 to display more colors, which results in more realistic images. The screen has another trick; it has a built-in fingerprint scanner. The Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner sits invisibly at the bottom and works with inaudible sounds. It is very fast and should be even safer thanks to being able to scan a fingerprint in 3D.

A lot more cameras

Next to a new screen, the Samsung Galaxy S10 gets a lot of improved cameras. If its predecessor still had a single camera on the back, this S10 has no less than 3. There is still a camera with a Dual Aperture lens that can achieve the best performance in both day and night. New is a 12 megapixel telephoto zoom lens that can bring images up to 2x closer. The advantage of optical zooming over digital is that the quality does not deteriorate. The third camera is a 16 megapixel camera with a wide-angle 123° lens. Here you can see complete landscapes which gives a panoramic effect. You can easily switch between these cameras in the camera app. At the front is a 10 megapixel selfie camera with autofocus so you can also shoot sharp photos from very close range. The video camera also gets attention. For example, there is a smoother mode with which you shoot action images. You don't have to carry a stabilizer with you anymore.

Wireless Powershare and WiFi 6

In the introduction we mentioned the Galaxy S10 as a further development of the Galaxy S9. So expect a lot of 'old' features like a regular headphone input, USB-C port and wireless charging. However, the latter is something else; you can also charge other devices with the S10. With Wireless PowerShare you can charge phones of friends who have wireless charging, but you can also power the new Galaxy Buds with it. The S10 itself has also been thought of for wireless charging; it now has Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 for faster charging. Other innovations come in the form of many details. Think of support for the new WiFi 6 (802.11ax) for faster downloads, a 29% faster processor and faster storage memory. It is also good to know that the model sold here has Dual SIM. It is a hybrid Dual SIM where the 2nd SIM slot is shared with the memory card. So both places are not possible.
