Nokia G21 product details

The Nokia G21 is an affordable phone with years of support. That's a combination you don't often see with smartphones. But there are more pluses to consider for this G21 and perhaps a minus. You can read all about it here.

Safer than usual

The Nokia G21 is a relatively simple smartphone at the lower end of the G series. Still, the device features a smooth 90Hz display and a 50MP triple camera system. It's good to learn that this sort of thing has also become accessible to a wider audience. You also get two years of Android upgrades and three years of security updates. Nokia even throws in 30-day access to ExpressVPN so you can access the Internet invisibly. What's crazy is that they are releasing it with the outdated Android 11.

90Hz but HD

At the front of the G21 we find a 6.5-inch display with an HD+ resolution of 720 by 1600 pixels. We would have liked to have seen a higher resolution of FHD+ for more sharpness. Neat though is the smooth 90Hz display, something previously reserved only for much more expensive phones. Slightly old-fashioned is the selfie camera at the top of the screen. It is not behind a hole, but in a notch. The selfie camera has a neat resolution of 8 megapixels. For even more, you have to be on the back. There adorns a tall 50MP camera that gets the help of artificial intelligence (AI). Nokia applies a rather small sensor of 1/2.76" with somewhat limited light intake. Fine for everyday use, for more exciting photos you will have to look elsewhere.

Main Nokia G21 specifications

  • 6.5" HD screen with smooth 90Hz display
  • 50+2+2MP camera system with AI functionality
  • 8MP selfie camera in notch at the top of the screen
  • 5050mAh battery with 18W fast charging (10W charger included)
  • With 64 or 128GB of storage (expandable with microSD card up to 512GB)
  • Android 11 with two promised OS upgrades

Three days of battery life

The Nokia G21 is powered by a rather unknown processor; the Unisoc T606. It too is not very exciting and gives some mediocre performance. Partly due to the limited amount of RAM memory of 4GB. The battery does not disappoint. It measures a generous 5050mAh, enough for three days, and can be charged quickly with 18W. It's not really super fast, and it's also a shame that only a 10W charger is included. So to unlock its full speed, you have to make an extra investment. Fortunately, this G21 won't cost you a rib.
