The Huawei Mate 10 Lite is particularly notable for its 4 cameras. Not only is there a double camera on the back, there are also two on the front. What you can do with this and what other features the Mate 10 Lite has, we will try to explain here.
The Huawei Mate 10 Lite is not the little brother of the Mate 10, both have a 5.9 inch screen. Lite does not mean smaller for Huawei, but simpler. Although 'simple' is a relative term, but we will come to that later. Simple sounds in our ears rather like 'cheaper'. For this price you get a lot back, namely a large phone with large screen and thin bezels and therefore a modern look. Huawei has named this screen FullView because of the large field of vision. Almost the entire front consists of screen. As if this is modern enough, Huawei also gives the Mate 10 Lite a more than decent resolution of Full HD+. Images are sharp and, thanks to the IPS screen, true to life.
Phones with a dual main camera we know by now. The Huawei Mate 10 Lite combines a 16 with 2 megapixel camera to capture depth of field so you can blur the background. On the face of it, this results in professional photos. However, what the Mate 10 Lite also features is a dual selfie camera. What exactly does that do for you? First of all, a good portrait mode where only your face is in focus and the background is not. There are also 18 different filters for funny photos. Also present is Huawei's Beauty mode that has arrived at version 4.0 this time. You have to love it but this mode provides a smoother skin and more natural tone. A separate selfie flash compliments the Huawei Mate 10 Lite and provides light in the dark. There are two different brightness levels that automatically select the amount of light needed to take a good selfie.
We briefly wrote in the introduction that the Mate 10 Lite is the simpler brother of the Mate 10. But what is simple? Driving force is a Kirin 659 processor consisting of no less than 8 cores that have a decent amount of RAM memory. That sounds like a lot on paper but in practice, it really is a midrange processor. In other words, it can keep up nicely but it will not compete for the prices. The battery is quite large and can last up to two days with normal use. It is a pity that the battery cannot be recharged quickly. You will have to be patient for a full charge. We also find a neat 64 GB of storage memory. Part of that is taken up by the Mate 10 Lite itself, leaving you with 48 GB. If that's not enough, you can add a memory card of up to 128 GB.
The trend of 2017 for telephones is the front-facing screen. Huawei has now joined this trend and is coming to the Netherlands with two phones; the Mate 10 Pro and the Mate 10 Lite tested by us. Appliances with a large, front-filling screen are generally still quite expensive. Let that be the property where the Mate 10 Lite distinguishes itself first. Its price was already under 350 euros at launch. For that amount of money you still get a decent arsenal of specifications. Think for example of a 5.9 inch screen, four(!) cameras, a fingerprint scanner and 64 GB of storage memory.
