Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S25 FE will be wafer-thin

Not because you have to, but because you can

Like Apple, Samsung is also planning to release an ultra-thin phone. Samsung has its eye on the Galaxy S25 FE expected in 2025. Exactly how thin the device will be is still unclear, but at least thinner than the current 8 millimeters.

Phone manufacturers want to focus on ultra-thin phones by 2025. Not because anyone is waiting for that, but because they can. Because it's something different. By itself, Samsung could have focused on innovative foldables, but it is now opting for an extra-thin Galaxy S25 Fan Edition.

Samsung thus wants to take the wind out of the sails of Apple, which wants to do something similar with the upcoming iPhone 17 Air. The current Galaxy S24 FE measures exactly 8 millimeters, so the S25 FE will at least be thinner than that.

The thinner a phone the less room for battery there is. Samsung already couldn't fit more than a 4,700 mAh in the S24 FE. That doesn't bode well for its successor. The thinnest Samsung Galaxy ever was the Galaxy A8 with a 3050 mAh battery and a thickness of 5.9 millimeters.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400

Samsung could adopt a more energy-efficient processor to compensate for the loss in capacity. The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 has been mentioned as a possible candidate. This chipset was previously mentioned to take its place in the S25 and S25+. That deal may now be off the table.
