Murena starts sales Pixel tablet free of Google services
The Google Pixel Tablet is an excellent tablet that offers great value for money. But those who do not want to be tracked by Google, or simply degoogling, the tablet is not an option. Not anymore, as Murena, known for the Google-free Android clone /e/OS, is releasing the tablet without Google services.
There is currently a movement to get rid of as many Google services as possible. This can be done small, by replacing Gmail with Proton and Google Maps with Here or Magic Earth. But those who want to go further, and completely degoogle, can look at /e/OS; the Android-based operating system that operates entirely without Google services.
Murena, the maker of /e/OS, sells phones with /e/OS on its website and recently offered a tablet with /e/OS. It is the Google Pixel Tablet. The tablet released in May of 2022 came out with Android 13 but Murena is now selling with /e/OS under the name "Murena Pixel Tablet. Asking price? 539 euros.

Going through life tracking-free has its price. /e/OS contains alternatives to the standard Google apps for browsing, emailing, the calendar, maps and the camera. By the way, it is just possible to install Android apps. In addition to the Murena Pixel tablet, it also sells phones with /e/OS including the CMF Phone 1, Fairphone 5 and Pixel 8.
