Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge lost third camera due to thickness
Samsung showed January 22 the Galaxy S25 Edge; an ultra-thin Galaxy phone. A week earlier, @onleaks showed renders of the device with one major difference; a third camera. This appeared to spontaneously disappear when Samsung showed it. Why?

Samsung was working on two prototypes; a thick one measuring 6.4 mm and a thin one measuring 5.84 mm. When Samsung learned that Apple's iPhone 17 Air was likely to be between 5 and 6 millimeters thick, development of the thicker prototype was halted. As a result, the telephoto camera had to go. And the battery also had to be thinner; 3900mAh.
Possibly not thin enough
And so we looked at the wrong prototype in mid-January and were finally surprised when Samsung showed something truly new during Unpacked. The dimensions of Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge now come out to 158.2 x 75.5 x 5.84 mm, and with that, Samsung may still lose out to Apple.

But before we can answer that, Apple has to announce its thin iPhone. And that won't happen until the end of this year. But in that time Samsung cannot rest, because the S25 Edge is anything but ready. It too may not hit the market until around the same time.
