The Xiaomi Redmi 9 is an entry Android phone with Quad Camera, large battery and low price. Now you can't keep slashing prices without cutting corners. So it's up to us to find it out and decide whether this Redmi 9 is worth your money.
Xiaomi is and remains a somewhat crazy brand. It brings out a lot of phones that compete on price. It is very difficult to spend a lot of money for a Xiaomi phone. This Redmi 9 is no exception. In fact, it is one of the cheapest Android smartphones it sells. For little money you get a 6.53 inch screen in return, a quad camera system and a 5020 mAh battery with fast charging. How's that possible? The answer is twofold: cheap(er) materials and a low-end processor. The housing is made of plastic, although not as bad today as it used to be. In contrast to full glass phones, it doesn't fall apart and, unlike metal phones, it doesn't feel as cold.
The back of the Xiaomi Redmi 9 may be made of plastic, but the front is plain glass. Xiaomi has chosen Gorilla Glass 3, not the latest version of the drop and scratch resistant glass, but it does offer the necessary protection. And the screen has another advantage. Despite its low price, Xiaomi applies a sharp resolution. Full HD+ which in the case of the Redmi 9 comes down to 2340 by 1080 pixels. The brightness of up to 400 nits is not that bright, so reading in direct sunlight will be a challenge. To make this easier, there is Sunlight mode in which the backlight is automatically adjusted. We just wrote about it; the processor is not the most powerful. It is the MediaTek Helio G80; a chipset with eight cores at a maximum of 2 GHz. Although it is once faster than the Redmi 8, playing games at the highest settings will not work.
As camera system Xiaomi has chosen for a 13MP camera with wide-angle lens, 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 5MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. A wide range of options for a wide variety of situations. Do not expect miracles, especially in low light, because the sensor is not that big. However, with the necessary patience and a steady hand, you can shoot good everyday photos. Even without hands because thanks to the palm recognition you can take pictures of yourself simply by holding up your hand. To convince you even more, the Redmi 9 is equipped with infrared to control your television, it has NFC to pay wirelessly and you can quickly charge it with up to 18W.
