A wearable is an electronic device that you wear on your body. Think of a watch, bracelet or glasses. The most famous wearables are smartwatches, also called smart watches. By constantly reducing the size of electronics and improving the quality of batteries, this type of product has become possible. A kind of subcategory of these are fitness trackers. They look more like bracelets, sometimes with a screen, which often have a more specific task: keeping track of workouts. Nevertheless, over the years they have become more and more extensive so that they are sometimes in the same waters as smartwatches. For example, you can receive notifications from your phone.
Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality
Another category is Virtual Reality. A special pair of glasses contains a screen so you feel like you're in a whole other world. Here too, the electronics have become smaller and smaller, which makes them more comfortable to wear. Some VR glasses are stand-alone and do not require a corresponding computer or device, others connect to your phone or PC. Not all wearable glasses are intended for VR, the best known example is the Google Glass and Microsoft Hololens. These project an image on top of reality; also known as AR or Augmented Reality.
