“A successful comeback?”
NewMobile ·
Making a successful comeback isn't easy, but Motorola tries it anyway with the Moto X. This time he listens to the name X4 and it's a different kind of Moto X than we were used to. Just to be clear, we're talking about the regular Motorola version of the X4. Not the one with Android One or the Amazon version. These are both not available in the Netherlands. The X4 is equipped with a 12 and 8 megapixel camera at the back and a 16 megapixel camera with flash at the front. Furthermore, the camera has a 5.2 inch screen, Snapdragon 630 processor and is waterproof.
The Motorola Moto X4 is an attractively designed device with a dual camera consisting of premium materials. And with a recognizable, waterproof look, it can effortlessly take on the competition. At least if you solely look at its specifications. In this description, we will look at the device to see if it holds up.
Design with the right considerations
Say what you will, but we think the Moto X4 is a beautifully designed phone. It's nice and thin, the metal edge makes it a bit more robust, the glass comes across as premium and modern, and it is also IP68 waterproof. Furthermore, Motorola has created both a thin device and one with a large battery. A large 3000 mAh battery is always handy in a device under 8 millimeters thick. Also convenient is that the fingerprint scanner sits at the front. As a result, it is always easy to grab, even when lying flat on a table.
Smarter camera(s)
Still, the Moto X4 is all about the cameras, so we have to turn it around. On the back, a chunky round camera module stares at you with big eyes. Because of this, the design is very expressive. The camera module is worth seeing as it houses a 12 and 8-megapixel sensor. With intelligent software, you can shoot beautiful pictures and have many functions at your disposal. Blur backgrounds, make specific colors stand out, and recognize landscapes. The camera on the X4 does it all. The camera with the most megapixels is found on the front side. The 16-megapixel selfie camera merges four pixels into one so that more light falls on it. Expect to be able to take great selfies even in the dark. That should result in not making a lot of use of the available selfie flash. Extra-wide selfies are also possible thanks to the Panoramic Selfie mode. So besides yourself, also capture your friends in the same photo.

To get some use out of your phone as well, Motorola has installed a Snapdragon 630 processor. This computing wonder features eight cores and eight workers working for it simultaneously. As a result, the Moto X4 doesn't feel sluggish, even when you're doing task-intensive things like gaming. And the 3 GB of RAM allows you to run multiple apps simultaneously without hiccups. Keeping them in memory simultaneously makes switching fast, and you can do more. You can use the TurboPower charger if the large battery is drained. A quick charge of fifteen minutes is enough to last another six hours. Now that's what we call power naps.
