Koningsdag in the Netherlands
Koningsdag is celebrated in the Netherlands since 2014, before that we celebrated Koninginnedag. It is a national holiday, which means that most working people are off. We celebrate Koningsdag on King Willem Alexander's birthday on April 27 (unless it falls on a Sunday, then we celebrate it a day earlier).
Kings Day new style
On Kings Day new style, King Willem Alexander, Queen Maxima and their family visit one place. Prince Constantine, Princess Laurentien and the children of Princess Margriet and Pieter van Vollenhoven are also usually present.
Elsewhere in the country, free markets, festivities and musical performances traditionally take place. The evening before is called Koningsnacht (King's Night) and the day before volunteers or anyone who has made a positive contribution to society are put in the limelight during the annual ribbon-cutting ceremony.
King Games
The Friday before King's Day, most elementary schools hold a field day. Schools decide for themselves how they interpret this event. The start is usually the same though; together with a King's breakfast. The King usually joins this breakfast somewhere in the country as well.

Christmas Day in Belgium
Belgium also has King's Day. That day is held in honor of King Philip of Belgium and takes place annually on November 15. The King of Belgium has his birthday on April 15 but King's Day is traditionally celebrated on the 15th of November.
