The capacity of a telephone battery is indicated in mAh (milliampere-hour); the higher the number the longer the battery life. In spite of the fact that phone batteries are getting bigger and bigger, we only show the ones above with at least 4000 mAh.
Battery saving tips
You can do whatever it takes to get the most out of your phone battery. The biggest power guzzler is the screen, so the less you have the screen on, the longer your battery life. But there are other tips. We'll list the most important ones:
- Down the screen brightness or set to auto
- Sets the screen time-out as low as possible
- Sets Bluetooth, NFC and WiFi off when not in use
- Sets the location method to the save mode
- Sets vibrate off for the keyboard
- Updates your phone regularly
- Uses your phone's battery save mode if available
There are also persistent rumors that forcing apps to close increases battery life. That's not true. The most popular mobile operating systems now deal well with apps that are running in the background or have ever been opened. Sometimes the forced shutdown of apps can work to your disadvantage. If you have really strong suspicions that a particular app is causing battery problems, we recommend removing it altogether. Then try looking for an alternative app.
Telephone battery in good condition
In the end, no one escapes recharging their phones. It's best not to do this at night but during the day while you're awake. In 2017, the Fire Brigade, together with the Dutch Association of Insurers, issued a warning not to charge mobile phones at night. There is a very small risk of overheating and fire. It is also not good to charge the battery up to 100% each time. Discharging a battery altogether does not improve its service life either. The most ideal is to keep it between 50% and 80%. Short charging periods maximize the life of your phone battery. Something that has become even more important with built-in phone batteries.
Recharge phone quickly
By now you don't have to wait hours for a fully charged battery with many mobile phones. They have fast charging. That only works with a corresponding quick charger. It's not always included so that's something to watch out for when you buy it. There are now several fast charging methods, each with its own name. The most common is Qualcomm's Quick Charge. But manufacturers sometimes have their own techniques, including:
- Adaptive Fast Charge (Samsung)
- SuperCharge (Huawei)
- TurboPower (Motorola)
- Dash Charge and Warp Charge (OnePlus)
- (Super)VOOC(Oppo)
- PumpExpress (MediaTek)
It is strongly recommended to always use the original charger and cable with your phone. Most charging problems with even fire occur because not the original charger and cable have been used. Being able to charge quickly wirelessly is also possible nowadays, but this does not (yet) allow you to get the speed of wired charging. Do you want to recharge in the shortest possible time? Then turn your phone off while charging. That makes it even faster.
