Cat launches S62 Pro with improved thermal camera
Cat is a brand name of Caterpillar, an American manufacturer of heavy machinery such as excavators. They don't make the Cat phones themselves, they lend their name to the Bullitt Group. That company also makes phones for Land Rover, JCB and Kodak. All models are robust and water and dust resistant, making them suitable for use on a construction site.
Cat Phones history
The first Cat phones appeared in 2013 and since then new models have been announced every year. Most Cat phones are smartphones running Android. However, there are also Cat feature phones that use a proprietary operating system. In 2018, it first released a feature model with KaiOS which is derived from FireFox OS. The advantage of this is that there is an app store available from which apps can easily be downloaded.
With the announcement of the Cat S60 in 2016, Cat introduced a thermal FLIR camera in a mobile phone for the first time. This allows you to see the temperature of objects on the screen. The FLIR thermal camera has been improved in successors to the S60, giving the camera a permanent place in the product range.
