They used to come standard in the box with your new cell phone; a charger. Nowadays, they don't. The idea behind it is that you often still have a USB charger lying around somewhere. That saves e-waste. But if you want to take advantage of the fastest possible charging technology for your new mobile phone, you'll have to buy one.
Safest choice: the proprietary charger
Every manufacturer has its own charger. Generally, this is the safest way, this way you can be 100% sure that everything works as intended. In addition, this ensures the least chance of defects. Of course, you don't want a chance of fire.

Quick charger? Check the cable too
These days there are fast chargers that can charge a phone or tablet at 100W. To deal with these speeds and powers, a compatible cable is needed. Even USB-C comes in many versions and variants. Check that your cable can handle your charger, and if necessary, buy a charger+cable combination.
Want to charge two devices at the same time? That's possible with some chargers. There are chargers with multiple USB ports. Does it also support fast charging? Then chances are that only one port supports fast charging and the other does not. Be mindful of this.
