Confusing Oppo Reno12 FS with Oppo AI comes to the Netherlands
Oppo, or Oppo Electronics Corporation in full, is a Chinese consumer electronics company. It is one of the largest manufacturers of smartphones in China and India but hardly known outside. Because of its large market share in China, Oppo was ranked fourth in the world's largest smartphone manufacturers in 2017. Oppo is owned by BBK Electronics, a multinational that also owns Vivo and OnePlus.
Oppo history
The company Oppo was founded in 2001, but has only been active since 2004. First Blu-ray and DVD players were made, then smartphones. Oppo specializes in camera phones. For example, the Oppo N1 was the first smartphone with a motorized rotating camera. In 2018, it released the Oppo Find X with an extendable self-image camera. In addition to camera technology, the company also focuses on fast charging. With VOOC and SuperVOOC, for example, it possesses one of the many fast charging technologies for mobile phones.
Oppo Netherlands
Despite the great popularity in China, the models are hardly known in the rest of the world. This is slowly changing. First, some Oppo phones were imported to the Netherlands by adventurous webshops. By now they are also officially available here from a select group of suppliers. At the beginning of 2019 Oppo announced to work with T-Mobile to sell its phones here.
Oppo series
It was only in 2018 before the first Oppo mobile phones reached the Netherlands. At that time, the company was already running whole series that would never eventually reach Europe. Think of the Oppo F-series that focuses on the selfie generation, N-series with rotating cameras and the K-series consisting of gaming phones. The series below did come out here;
- Oppo A Series - Entry Series
- Oppo R Series - Camera Phones
- Oppo Find Series - Premium flagships with innovative features
ColorOS
Oppo uses the ColorOS operating system for its smartphone. This is based on Android from Google and is, as its name suggests, a colorful interpretation of it. The features that Oppo has added to ColorOS and the look it has given it makes it look a lot like Apple's iOS. You can simply download Android apps from the Play Store and Oppo tries to release a new version of ColorOS every year.
