Realme is a Chinese company with a well-known owner; Oppo and BBK Electronics. BBK we know as the parent company of some other Chinese phone brands including Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and iQOO. Realme has been around since 2018 and is a spin-off from Oppo.
Realme history
The history of Realme goes back to 2010 when Oppo announced the 'Oppo Real'. At Oppo, the idea then grew to launch a separate sub-brand focused on stylish smartphones with solid performance and an affordable price tag. In 2018, a separate company was formed and the first phones under the Realme brand were announced.
The company initially sold its phones mainly in India after which it gradually expanded to other countries and continents. Thus, Realme became active in large parts of Asia and Europe in 2019. Customers could appreciate the Realme phones. In 2019, Realme managed to sell 10 million units already.
Realme Models
The Realme smartphones are divided into a number of series. Most of them start with a number. According to good Chinese practice, the number '4' is skipped; it would resemble the word 'death' too much. There are also models that start with a letter. Below we mention a few.
- Realme 1 - The first released model of 2018
- Realme 5 series - Entry-level models
- Realme 6 series - Main series with good price/quality ratio
- Realme 7 series - Models focused on screen or camera
- Realme 8 series - Affordable flagships
- Realme C series - Colorful entry-level models
- Realme X series - Flagships focused on photography
Realme slogan
Realme often uses the slogan "Dare to Leap" in its communications. This should especially appeal to a young audience that is looking for an affordable smartphone with an appealing look.
