The battery of Samsung's next rugged phone has just been captured in photo. Possibly it is the battery of the XCover 8 Pro. The energy carrier has a wider capacity than its predecessor(s) and is still swappable.
The battery in question has type number EB-BG766GBY, which most likely belongs to the XCover 8 Pro, although that is not yet written in stone. The stated capacity is 4350 mAh, which is higher than the 4050 mAh of the XCover 7.
This is still a self-exchangeable battery, something the Galaxy XCover models are known for. As is the rugged case that can withstand drops, water and dust. Samsung announced its last XCover phone in January of 2024 so perhaps we can expect an announcement as soon as a month from now.
The XCover line is a niche product for Samsung. New models are not released with great regularity. For example, no XCover phone was announced in 2023. Fortunately, you don't necessarily have to buy an XCover model if you want a waterproof phone. That is true if you want a rugged Galaxy.
