Samsung has announced the Galaxy A15 and A25 5G in Vietnam. The A15 comes in LTE and 5G versions, while the A25 will be released only with 5G support. Whether all three variants will be released outside Vietnam is unknown, but those with 5G will most likely see a global release.
Samsung wants to differentiate the A15 and A25 from other cheaper smartphones through an attractive design. The buttons are placed on an island. Previously, Samsung used this design language for the cameras but recently moved away from that style.
Both the Samsung Galaxy A15 and Galaxy A25 feature a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a sharp FHD+ resolution. The A15 refreshes images 90 times per second, the A25 does so 120 times. Also, the latter is brighter with a 1000 nits screen versus 800 nits on the A15.
MediaTek vs Exynos processor
The Samsung Galaxy A15 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ with eight cores and 8GB of RAM. Storage memory is strangely more than on the A25 5G. The latter does not exceed 128GB, according to the press release, while the A15 5G comes with 256GB as standard. Possibly, this is a typo because elsewhere, we do see up to 256GB of storage. Those who pick up a Samsung Galaxy A15 LTE will get a MediaTek Helio G99 processor with 128 or 256GB of storage.
All the mentioned devices get a 50MP primary camera with an f/1.8 lens, with only the A25 having optical image stabilization (OIS). That model also gets a slightly higher 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The A15 line will have to make do with a 5MP shooter. However, all three do have in common that they have a third camera for depth recognition of 2MP sharp. Also similar is the selfie resolution of 13 megapixels.
Samsung A15 and A25 price and availability
Samsung also mentions prices in its press release. Converted, those are 190 euros for the A15 4G, 240 euros for the A15 5G and 250 euros for the Galaxy A25 5G. The phones come with four years of OS and five years of security updates. There appear to be a total of 4 colors coming: Personality Yellow, Fantasy Blue, Optimistic Blue, and Courageous Black. They will be in stores in Vietnam starting December 16, when the rest of the world will follow is still unknown.
