Nokia has announced the 6260 Slide last week. This non-smartphone device has a 5 megapixel camera and supports GPS. This is the first Series 40 device that will have the application Nokia Maps.
A feature that is quite prominent of the new Nokia 6260 Slide is the Half VGA display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The device can among others being used for the opening of long internet pages. Therefore it isn't strange that we find the 3G techniques on the 6260 Slide in UMTS, HSDPA and WiFi.
Nokia has placed a scrollwheel on the 6260 Slide to make the use of the device easier. The device also has a special navigation button on the side to use the Nokia Maps navigation software. The built-in GPS receiver, that is supported by A-GPS, makes it easy to navigate. Furthermore, the device has a 5 megapixel camera including Carl Zeiss lens. It becomes so easy to make perfect sharp pictures that are thanks to the Dual LED flash also perfectly lightened.
Series 40 6th Edition
To make this all happen on a non-smartphone Nokia has launched a new version of the Series 40. Nokia has made a SDK (Software Development Kit) available that can be used by developers to develop new applications for Series 40 phones. Nokia is hoping to give an impulse to these phones. The Series 40 6th Edition is different because of among others the possibility of location-based services, that can be used to use navigation applications.
The Nokia 6260 Slide is expected to be in stores the first quarter of 2009 against a price of 300 Euro.
