Samsung is preparing a new rugged Galaxy XCover phone. Images of this XCover 7 surfaced at Android Headlines' colleagues. There are indications that this is not a very expensive device.
In 2022, Samsung announced its last Galaxy XCover phone; the XCover 6 Pro. What it owed the Pro addition to we don't know but it was reflected in its starting price of €629. The now released XCover 7 looks to be below that in terms of price.
Indeed, we see a drop-shaped notch back; this is something Samsung currently only applies to low-cost Galaxy phones. More expensive models all have their selfie camera behind a more modern punch-hole. The back is quite chunky with ridges for extra grip. According to the source, the back is also removable to access the removable battery.
Favorable mid-range
Samsung's XCover series has received little attention lately. Probably because many Galaxy phones have become waterproof. Still, there is a niche market for really rugged phones that can take a beating. Really high-end ones, however, are not. And the XCover 7, with its single camera, doesn't look like it will be either.
