Successor Nokia 9 PureView postponed again

Nokia 10 PureView not expected before second half 2021

Successor Nokia 9 PureView postponed again

When is the successor to the Nokia 9 PureView coming? Not in 2020, according to a new report. The launch of the Nokia 10 PureView has been postponed to the second half of 2021.

It is now known by now that the Nokia 9.1 PureView and 9.2 PureView have been canceled. The successor of the Nokia 9 PureView will probably not be the 9.3 PureView but the 10 PureView. And it would also become a much more high-end flagship to justify that higher number. According to the people of TechRadar it will come out in the second half of 2021.

Snapdragon 875

This time the delay is caused by the yet to be announced Snapdragon 875 processor. That chip will be announced on 1 December. With this chipset, the Nokia 10 PureView can better stand up to the competition. Probably the device will again focus a lot on camera functionality. The 9 PureView was a bit disappointing in that regard. Nokia collaborates with Zeiss and Light for its camera. In reality, the penta camera wasn't performing that well. The camera app was slow, the zoom quality was disappointing and it did not have an ultra-wide-angle lens.

Delay

Not only was there no successor to the PureView, the total number of Nokia phones released in 2020 is very low. There is no clear reason for this, but it is possible that the company suffers a lot from COVID-19. There are also rumors about money issues. In August of 2020, HMD Global, the maker of Nokia phones, raised 230 million dollars from Google and Qualcomm. The intention is that it will use this money to sell several 5G phones. Then again, healthy companies don't need to raise money from suppliers to survive.
