OnePlus and BOE are on the eve of announcing a record-breaking 3000-nits bright screen. The question now is in which device this will end up. After a series of announcements, the first candidate is the OnePlus 12.
OnePlus and Oppo, in partnership with BOE, have sent out an invitation for Oct. 24. The accompanying text reads, "From lagging behind to catching up to surpassing." OnePlus has just announced the Open, with an already exceptionally bright 2800 nits display. But that might not be bright enough for the company.
It is still unclear which device this new display will end up in. The OnePlus 12 is the first that comes to mind, but an early launch on Oct. 24 seems a bit early. Especially since the "12" is likely to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and this chip has yet to be announced by Qualcomm.
Panel already predicted
Three years ago, leaker Digital Chat Station already predicted on Weibo a BOE display of 3,000 nits with 2K resolution. Whether this is the same panel remains to be seen. Both BOE and OnePlus have not yet shared any details about the screen.
