OnePlus is going to equip the upcoming OnePlus 13 with a special version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, also yet to be announced. This mobile processor is optimized to consume even less power. Both the OnePlus 13 and Snapdragon 8 Elite are expected in October 2024.
OnePlus will be one of the first manufacturers to adopt the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite. This mobile processor is the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, giving it a new name for the first time. In fact, for the OnePlus 13, a modified version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite seems to have been chosen.
These modifications should make the chip more energy efficient than the Apple A18 Pro found in the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. The Apple A chips are considered the most powerful in the industry and it seems Qualcomm has finally matched or surpassed the performance.
First with Snapdragon 8 Elite?
The OnePlus 13 will compete directly with the Xiaomi 15. Both phones are trying to be the first phone with a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Later, we can also expect chip in the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, as well as many other high-end flagship phones.
