Renders of the upcoming Google Pixel 8a have appeared for the first time. We had already seen a photo of the device, which resembled nothing like its predecessor. The images from @onleaks now confirm that new design style.
Usually, we first see renders of a new device and then photos. For the upcoming Google Pixel 8a, it's the other way around. Photos first leaked in late September. Half a month later, the renders turned up. All thanks to @onleaks and Smartprix.
Both the photos and the renders share strong similarities. From this, we can deduce that the successor to the Google Pixel 7a will be a lot rounder. And with that, the device will fit nicely between the already announced Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. Oddly, Google does not apply the same curvature everywhere. The 8a appears much more rounded than its brothers.
Price increase
For now, all attention goes to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro that will hit stores this week. Prices for these will start at 799 and 1099 euros, respectively. That's higher than in previous years. The Pixel 8a will undoubtedly be cheaper than that, but possibly higher compared to the 7a. We can't rule out a price increase for the A-model as well.
Pixel 8a specifications
The source further reports that the Google Pixel 8a features a 6.1-inch flat screen. Unlike the '8' and '8 Pro', the screen bezels are not uniform throughout, a chin is noticeable at the bottom. On the back, we spot two cameras, unclear yet which ones. Finally, it is likely that the Pixel 8a also features the Tensor 3 processor, albeit with slightly fewer features.
Pixel 8a announcement
The question remains as to when the device will be announced. That could take some time. Its predecessor did not see the light of day until May. That's almost half a year after the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro were announced. So, a launch may not occur until halfway through 2024.
