Not only does the upcoming Pixel 9a get an updated look, it also gets a new camera. One we've seen before on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
So reports AndroidHeadlines on its website. This would mean that Google is trading in the 64MP large Sony IMX787 sensor of the Pixel 8a for a lower 48MP one.
The 48MP camera of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is also reportedly a Sony IMX787 but at a lower resolution. This could theoretically increase the light output of individual pixels, but we have no certainty about that. Google reportedly intends to leave the ultra-wide-angle and selfie camera on the Pixel 9a unchanged.
Add me feature
Despite the lower camera resolution, Google does reportedly bring a new camera feature to the Pixel A series. It involves "Add Me" which we previously saw on the Pixel 9 series. The Add Me feature allows individuals to be added to a group photo later.
Google normally introduces a new Pixel A phone during the Google I/O event in May. However, there are reports that the Google Pixel 9a will be announced earlier than usual, perhaps in March 2025.
