The arms in the batte for the Megapixels have been laid down for some time. Now, thy're being picked up again. Panasonic launches a 13.2 Megapixel handset with the 'Lumix' label, which was reserved for cameras until now.
The handset is expected to be launched tomorrow in Japan. For now the phone is said to come to the market only over there. Panasonic once had a fair share of the phone market, but lost it when the first smartphones came. If the new phone comes to Europe, it will compete other camera phone, like Nokia N8, which had a 12 Megapixel camera.
Clamshell
Rumour has that the new Lumix handset is a clamshell, measuring 116 x 52 x 18 mm. A large phone that is, weighing 146 grams. The new phone will probably be brought to the market in april 2011.
