Apple iPhone 16 Pro finally looks to get serious fast charging

150W like on the OnePlus 10T are not going to reach the Apple iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, but it will be a big improvement from the maximum 20W that iPhones have been able to charge with for years.

Where Android manufacturers have flaunted high charging speeds for years, Apple lags a bit behind. As early as the iPhone 11, we're at a maximum of 20W. Still, Apple says this will get an empty battery back to half full in half an hour.

Very fast you could never charge an iPhone

That sounds appealing but a few minutes won't get you hours like competing smartphones. But perhaps the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will change that. Because a new rumor talks about 40W fast charging and 20W wireless via MagSafe.

Only for Pro models

None of this is anywhere near above the 100W offered by manufacturers like Oppo, OnePlus and Xiaomi, but at least it's starting to look like something. As usual with Apple, the entry-level iPhone 16 does not get this feature.

This one may finally be retired after years of faithful service

Apple does not currently offer a 40W power adapter, so it is also expected. That will be an expensive one because the current 35W charger costs $65 separately.
