LG opens the attack and expands the Black label series with six new devices before the end of this year. Devices containing new form factors, UMTS, 2.0 Mpixel cameras and build-in memory card slots are included. LG grows up to be a big player that can be compared with the five big brands within the European market. We will include LG from now on and call it the group of the big six.
The new models are the continuing development of the Black label series and the Chocolate phone line which expanded the brand LG in the past months. Within the new line of models a distinctive LG look is shown that many customers will appeal. Models in several form factors and colors will soon be available.
The market is ready for LG, but LG is also ready for the market of the upcoming months in which they will profile themselves as a brand with some pretty trendy products. The 2.0 Mpixel camera, the memory card slot, an unambiguous menu, unambiguous controls and a trendy and stylish design range of devices will support the increase of market share of LG within the European market.
The following models can be expected from LG in the upcoming period:
- LG KE800 Chocolate II
- LG KE820
- LG KG800 Pink Edition
- LG KG800 Red Wine Edition
- LG KG810
- LG KU800
These six models will be available in the upcoming months, some even with support of a service provider. The KE800 Chocolate II shall be sold seperately, the same counts for the KE820. The KG800 will be available in some phone shops in certain countries or sold separately. Idem for the new KG800 Red Wine Edition. The KU800 will be available with Vodafone Live! UMTS and is the first Black label device with UMTS. The LG KG810 is already available on the market.
To give a clear view on all the new devices a preview is given below. If you are interested in the new devices you can check them out on the LG brand page or separate phone pages. (The KE800 does not have a phone page available yet. When the information from LG comes in, we will change that.)
LG KE800
Known from Korea and available as the successor of the KG800 under the brand name Cyon, the new KE800 also known as Chocolate II shall be introduced to the European at the end of October. The new device may be qualified as the successor of the KG800, but is mainly an expansion within the range of Chocolate phones.
The device will be priced higher than the KG800 and LG is aiming at a more exclusive customer. They want to appeal to the customer that buys a Samsung currently. The new KE800 shall attack the more expensive models within the Samsung range; for instance the D900.
Will LG succeed? We think so. The new KE800 is a beautiful device and will be available in two variants; silver and gold.
The device contains the standard KG800 specifications including a 2.0 Mpixel camera, memory card slot for Micro SD cards, flight mode, flash and off course the touch panel keys. You will not press them, but touch them.
LG KE820
We know what you think; it looks like the Samsung P310! You are completely right. Both devices look the same and are comparable on specifications. The P310 and KE820 offer a 2.0 Mpixel camera, black UI, MicroSD memory card slot, special leather cover and a 262.000 color TFT display.
The differences are in the looks - in which you should decide yourself - the controls of the keyboards which look better on the LG, the availability of the touch panel keys of the E900 and especially the price. The LG KE820 will be cheaper than the Samsung.
It will be a hard battle between the two and we from NewMobile will support you with a comparison of the two. It will create some clear view within this battle and decide which is the best device for the customer. We are looking forward to that.
(The KE830 showed in the pictures differs from the final model. The silver edge around the device will not be available on the final model.)
LG KG800 Pink Edition & Red Wine Edition
Didn't you like the black color of the KG800? Perhaps the pink or red wine edition is something off your style! LG offers next to the white and black version the new pink and wine red version of the LG KG800 in the upcoming weeks.
The Pink version will be available in some shops exclusively and will be sold separately depending on the country you life in. The special red wine edition is unique. The red metallic color has never been shown on the market and will be a hit on many markets.
The specifications of the models are likewise. The large accessory package of both models will have accessories adapted to the color of the device.
LG KG810
The new KG810 is available for some weeks now and is the first Chocolate clamshell from the Korean brand. The device is placed in a segment of the market which only is occupied by the Motorola V3i currently. There are no other opponents.
The KG810 offers a 1.3 Mpixel camera, Bluetooth stereo audio support, touch panel MP3 player keys on the front and stylish black design.
LG KU800
The last LG member discussed here is the new KU800; the first UMTS model within the Black label series. The device will be introduced together with Vodafone Live! UMTS in the upcoming weeks.
The KU800 is based on the KG800, but with a higher thickness and its less wide than the KG800. The device has got a videocall camera on the front and on board UMTS. This function can be used as an option to download content such as videos, pictures and ringtones from the Vodafone Live! portal.
Furthermore the device is equipped with a MicroSD memory card slot, 2.0 Mpixel camera, flight mode, flash and off course the touch panel keys. You will not press them, but touch them.
Other LG news
Finally we can mention to you that the new LG KG338 will not be available on the European market. The device that has been shown to NewMobile today will not fit within the positioning of the current LG brand; says Dirk-Jan van Heteren from LG Mobile. We have the same feeling after using it. However there is still a change some countries will support it.
Next to this Dirk Jan van Heteren mentioned to us the upcoming introduction of a new Windows Mobile smartphone from LG. The device is build-in a candybar/monoblock form factor and runs Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphone edition. The complete device is controlled with touchpanel keys and controls. Even the numerical keypad contains a touchpanel system.
The first step for LG in the smartphone market was expected for some time now and it will be truth in the close future. The idea behind the device and the way in which they will work out the complete concept will be unique within the current smartphone segment. We cannot wait until we get a hands-on demonstration and hope that we can inform you with some extra information around 3GSM World Congress in February.
If you are interested in the new devices you can check them out on the LG brand page or separate phone pages. (The KE800 does not have a phone page available yet. When the information from LG comes in, we will change that.)
