On Monday, Sept. 9, Apple will unveil the iPhone 16 series, that much is known. That's a day earlier than usual. So what about the start of sales? A newly opened Apple Store in Sweden may reveal the exact date.
On Tuesday, Apple often announces new iPhones. Then on Friday the following week, they are often in stores. This year is different. The iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will be announced a day earlier on Monday, Sept. 9. This is due to the Presidential Debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
The newly opened Apple Store in Solna, near Stockholm, will open its doors on Sept. 20. That's a Friday, and it seems likely that it will happen simultaneously with the iPhone 16 series sales. And thus not a day earlier as was also the announcement.
No hard evidence
An unequivocal confirmation is not all as far as we are concerned but it is not obvious to open a day after the biggest product launch of the year. And so, albeit in pencil, we mark the date of Sept. 20 in our calendar.
The Apple Store Mall of Scandinavia is set to open after Apple closed one of its three Swedish Apple Stores in July. The Apple Väla Centrum in Helsingborg closed for good after 11 years. The Apple Mall of Scandinavia now takes that spot. The other two stores in Sweden are in Täby and Malmö.
