Users of the Apple iPhone 16 Pro are complaining of unrecognized touches on the Super Retina XDR screen. An exact cause has not yet been found, nor has Apple offered a solution.
The problem with the iPhone 16 Pro reportedly occurs on both iOS 18 and the yet-to-be-released 18.1. Apple gave the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max the thinnest bezel ever on an iPhone. Possibly that has something to do with these problems.
Thin screen bezels look nice but they have a negative side effect; unintended touches. Especially from your palm. These touches must be ignored by the software, something that seems to happen (insufficiently) in the iPhone 16 Pro. This is good news for Apple; in fact, this problem is easily fixed with a software update.
Workaround
Apple just needs to acknowledge, create and then roll this out first. So a fix may take some time. Meanwhile, users are complaining, including on Reddit, about their new iPhone. One user suggests avoiding the area around the Camera Control button for now. Or by using your iPhone in your left hand.
