Google deletes Android functionalities

While the actual launch date of the Android smartphones is getting closer, several functionalities have been removed from the Android version, like Bluetooth en Instant Messaging.

The product version of Android is preventing programmers to develop applications that use Bluetooth. Quite a disappointment for Google's platform for smartphones.

Reason for all this is the fact that the so-called Bluetooth API isnt' finished on time. An Android-engineer confirms this and promises that the API is going to be added on future models. The lacking of the Bluetooth API doesn't mean that the Android based smartphones, like the expected HTC Dream, can't use Bluetooth. It will be possible to use a Bluetooth headset.

Google Talk
Another functionality that has been deleted is Instant Messaging, also called GTalkService. A security problem is the reason. The security system of Google discovered several leaks that could result in a potential risk. One of these risks is the unnoticed release of personal data. In some cases the person you talk to on the phone could even take over the control of the device.

The first Android based smartphone is expected to be launched this year.
