Nothing announces remarkable and inexpensive CMF Phone 1

CMF, the budget brand of Nothing, has announced a phone for the first time. The CMF Phone 1 has a curious design with interchangeable back and an attachment point for accessories. But most notable is its low recommended retail price.

There are a number of specifications that are not reminiscent of a cheap device. For example, the CMF Phone 1 features a 2000-nits bright, sharp Full HD+ resolution and colorful Super AMOLED display. The MediaTek Dimensity 7300 with 8GB of RAM memory can also be called premium mid-range, to say the least.

Still, the CMF Phone 1 comes with a suggested retail price of $199. The device is powered by Nothing OS version 2.6 which is based on Android 14. Nothing promises 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security updates.

Accessory Point

The back of the CMF Phone 1 includes a 50MP f/1.8 camera and a depth camera. So an ultra-wide-angle camera for landscape photos is missing. At the back, four steel screws stand out. This makes the Phone 1 one of the few phones with interchangeable backs.

You do not reach the battery with this, so it is not interchangeable. However, you can insert other backs. Nothing also brings accessories, and uses the round Accessory Point for this. You attach a card case, a stand or a lanyard to it.
