OnePlus has announced the Nord 4 during a product launch. The metal unibody device gets an IP rating equivalent to waterproof for the first time. The device is further equipped with AI capabilities and gets six years of software updates.
According to OnePlus, the Nord 4 is the first 5G smartphone with a metal unibody. OnePlus uses aerospace-grade brushed aluminum for this. The OnePlus Nord 4 measures just under 8 millimeters thick and has thin screen bezels of 1.46 millimeters.
The display is AMOLED type, measuring 6.74 inches diagonally and capable of up to 2150 nits bright. Images refresh 120 times per second which provides smooth transitions. The screen can handle wet fingers and the casing itself is IP65 waterproof for the first time. The Nord 3 offered "only" protection against splashing water (IP54).
Sony LYTVIA
OnePlus omits the pointless 2MP macro camera and therefore features one less camera. Remaining are a 50MP Sony LYTIA camera with f/1.8 lens and OIS support, and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with wide 112° viewing angle. Zooming can be done digitally on the sensor with a range of between 2 and 20 times.
.OnePlus ships the Nord 4 with OnePlus Intelligence, or AI features. With it, you can erase objects from the background and create summaries of voice memos and Web pages. You can also use AI Smart Cut Out to create stickers of objects from photos.
OnePlus Nord 4 price and availability
The OnePlus Nord 4 comes out in Mercurial Silver, Oasis Green and Obsidian Midnight colors with 12GB+256GB or 16GB+512GB of working and storage memory. Prices start from €499 with expected delivery on Friday, August 9.
