It's been a while, but HTC has announced some new phones. In Taiwan it presented the Desire 20 Pro and U20 5G. At first sight similar phones of which it is unknown if they will ever be for sale here.
Both phones are very similar but differ in size. The screen has a hole for the selfie camera, there are 4 cameras on the back and there is where you will also find the fingerprint scanner. Inside is a 5000 mAh large battery. The HTC U20 5G has a smooth back panel while the Desire 20 Pro is ribbed.
The U20 5G has 5G support thanks to the Snapdragon 765G processor. The Desire 20 Pro has to make do with the slightly less powerful Snapdragon 665. The latter with 6.5 inch has a slightly smaller screen than the 6.8 inch U20. The same setup has been chosen for the cameras: 48 + 8 + 2 + 2 megapixels with a maximum aperture of f/1.8. HTC also chooses an ultra-wide-angle lens and a macro lens. Zoom seems to be missing.
Launch outside Taiwan
We haven't heard any word about a launch outside Taiwan. It's doubtful that will ever happen. In itself, HTC will have a good chance of success with an cheap 5G phone, because there is not (yet) much competition in that area. First in the shop is the Desire 20 Pro. This will be the case on June 18 for an amount of 270 euro.
